Native Charm – The collection

Inspiration behind Echo's Native Charm Spring '12 collection

Primitive sensibility breaks through in a wave of intensely bright unexpected color. Prints  are inspired by tribal motifs – printed  tattoos, Ikats, batiks, basketweaves, and carpets. Animal prints and exaggerated textures venture into a brave new world with the use of modern technology and digital printing. These bold exotic prints in electric colors clash as cultures are mixed and matched. There is a real dance between the authenticity and surreal.
Lucky for us…accessories are the easiest and chicest way to interpret the trend; oversized scarves are printed in exaggerated ethnics, beaded fringes with natural hemp and wood. Neon yellow mixes with khaki and synthetic coral. Gauzy cottons are overprinted in florescent colors and modern day Tunics or Caftans are printed in trick of the eye patchworks. Expect to see photographically printed basketweaves on nylon bags, sheer wraps-or woven fedoras with printed brims. It is the lighthearted mix of prints, color, and textures that gives this naïve tribal trend a charmingly contemporary spin. Perfect for beachwear, bags, swim, and scarves.
